Hi Guys,

I don't know how but a little more than 8 months ago, my webcam stopped working. It could not be detected anywhere and there was no "imaging devices" option in device manager, but everything else was as normal (no yellow triangles). I tried restarting, opening and replugging the batteries, and then even re-installing windows, but nothing worked.

It was still like that until few days ago when I randomly turned on Skype and it started working. I was so happy! I didn't use it again for a while as I didn't want to jinx it, but today i tried again and it's back to the way it was before. I haven't done anything different to my laptop since the day it worked.

One more thing I noticed today was that, during the startup of the laptop, the green webcam light on the top of the screen, lights up very dimly, and then goes out again when the user sign in page comes up. This must mean that the webcam isn't dead, right? Please help if you know anything about why this is happening or what I can do.

P.S. My laptop is Sony Vaio SVE15113FDB Win 7 64 bit.

Thank you.
