My pc's with Vista and W7 are showing excessive use of resources until I stop Windows Update as a service under the most active svchost process.  This is a relatively new development and one that is crippling the pc's.  Is there a fix for such a problem and is there a way to identify all services that do not need to be active?

Uninstall these updates.

Open add remove programs.
View Installed Updates.
Remove these from your machine.

Then hide those updates.
