one of my drives won't defrag!

when i tried to optimise my drives, i came across a drive named: \\?\Volume{4bdfcf07-ae31-47f6-885c5f757a}\

firstly this is an unknown to me and I'm wondering how it was created and if it's safe. Also it will not allow me to defrag it!

Did you buy a computer with Windows pre-installed?
If so, that strange disk is probably the "hidden" recovery partition provided by you supplier. Use the make recovery disk function included, and make a dvd/usb recovery disk if the strange disk bothers you. After that you might format the internal recovery disk, and use the freed up space.
Otherwise don't bother. If you open disk management, I guess you won't see that disk?
Press Windows-key + R (Run) key together, and type diskmgmt.msc. Hit Enter.
Is it still there?
