Fixed the link, but see terry provided one.

No, I don't think the extra $100 is worth it, doubt there would be any performance gain in daily use, only in benchmarking.

I would go the Optimized for 6th Gen G.Skill V.  > http://www.newegg.co...N82E16820231902It has been tested on your MB, > http://www.gskill.co...2484&model=2492

If you look at the timing, it is different than the V series that includes X99 Platform.

Thanks! I was leaning towards that or the second set, but that pretty much ends the debate.

Welp, one more thing has come up. :smashcomp:

Someone suggested that I change up my mobo, not for anything specific, but just in general that I should change from a LGA 1151 to a LGA 2011-v3. When I asked what the difference was and why I should switch, they gave the answer:

"It has 6+ core CPUs."

I looked up what I could find, but there isn't much explaining the difference beyond the number of points that connect to the CPU. What's the difference, and should I care?

should I care?

nope, stick to the 1151.

gaming rigs don't need 6 core cpu's and besides that intel haven't brought out any skylake cpu's for 2011 sockets yet. ;)

Thanks for the quick response! :notworthy:

I think that about wraps up the design then. Will update when I complete the build. If I have any other questions, I'll bring them back here.

Thanks again for all of your help you two!  :spoton:
