Hello out there, I had the greatest idea to replace the mobo on my Dell Vostro 400. Why? well I want something better for myself and be able to play a video game that does not need an upgrade.

 

So what is under the hood of a Dell Vostro 400 'Mini' Tower

As far as the parts, I have only replaced the Power Supply, added more memory and added a graphics card.

So the question is to anyone if you have tried to replace a motherboard on a PC that was built by any big PC companies out there. Please don't include custom made PC like Alienware, gateway etc.

 

What I will be needing is the mobo that could fit this specific box, I will then need to add the CPU (duh) and memory.

The only hassle is to find such motherboard.

I would not like to stick with the same mob combo but rather find a different mobo to upgrade that can fit the Vostro 400 box.

Note that changing to a completely different motherboard will invalidate the original OEM version of Windows that is/was installed on that machine.

Yes, my intention is to get rid of the OEM version and I should had mentioned earlier. Yes I was aware that I would need to get a brand new copy of Windows.

What type/size motherboard is in there?

Well it is a Micro ATX with a dimensions of 9.6x9.6, I did some more research and come to find out that it would be more of a hassel to remove the motherboard and replace it. So I will go off and find a nice case and a better motherboard for this new pc.
