Before re-installing Windows 8 from a stick drive with re-install software that I purchased from Acer for my laptop, there were wireless networks showing up on my laptop.  After re-install, I could find no wireless networks.  The wifi adapter stopped showing up in the network connections adapters and a bluetooth adapter started showing up that had never showed up before.  The ethernet adapter shows up as well but the wifi adapter is gone.  No wifi adapters are showing up in the device manager.  I have toggled the switch of fn+F3 for the wifi antenna but there is no light on this model laptop to let me know whether the antenna is on or off and I can find no icon on the display that comes on/off when the switch toggles.  Nevertheless, I have tried all efforts after toggling the switch in both positions so one has to be one and one has to be off.  Therefore, I've tried all of these things in the on position, I just don't know when it was in the on position.  I'm having a hard time believing my wifi adapter just died after a windows re-install.  I have an Acer E5-511-P0GC.  I also ran Belarc Advisor with the wifi switch toggled in both positions and it reports no wifi adapter, just a bluetooth adapter with a personal area network adapter.  How do I get my wifi adapter to show up again and get the wifi networks available to show up again?

Thanks.

Hi ItIsMe123 (Nice rhyme ), and welcome to GeeksToGo

While I cannot be sure, I would assume that somehow the Wireless Card's driver wasn't installed correctly. I would recommend you to download this wireless driver (The link is from Acer's website, from the Windows 8 drivers for your model.) Download the zip file, extract its content, and execute the setup.exe from the folder. This should reinstall the needed wireless drivers, and Wi-Fi should be working again.

Thank you very much Yisroel.  That did the trick.  Odd, I considered that a driver might be missing but that didn't quite make sense since I had a fresh install and the drivers for the ethernet and bluetooth were there.  Weird.  I wonder why just the wireless driver went missing on the fresh install?  Oh well.  Thanks anyway.  That was the fix I needed!
