I've been having a problem with a script error on someone's computer. I went through the Advanced Settings and turned off the notifications and the debugging options. I reset IE and it lasted a day but the next day I started getting script errors again. The error comes up with "can't find rtm/manager". I found it happens mostly when going to eBay. I used UVK and cleaned the temporary files and all that but that didn't seem to help.

 

With it being 2015 and everything and not being a developer for a website, these errors should be hidden from the view of the user. These should NEVER happen. Anyone know what to do here?

I suspect the problem could impact other add-ons so even if you're not using Google Toolbar, try disabling add-ons and see if that does the trick.  If you do this, be sure to shut down all instances of IE (or reboot) before running a fresh instance to test if it worked.

I'm going to try this out. I've got a suspicion that it's something on that account and not a Windows issue itself (which I'd be ecstatic if that's true). If that doesn't work I'm going to create a new user account and see if the problem happens there and if it doesn't occur on that account then I'm going to look at the Kaspersky anti-virus software that they use and look at it's settings and dig around and find what's going on.

I made a mistake, this computer was running IE 11, not IE 10. Also, no other computer on the network is doing this. I did everything from what Microsoft (which I feel the common solutions are only masking the real problem, such as disabling the scripts completely) to whatever anyone else said. I uninstalled, reinstalled, reset, turned off smooth scrolling, etc. I even turned off their antivirus software completely and NOTHING worked. I did include a shortcut to disable add-ons for IE on their desktop in case it was something with add-ons. There was something interesting that I discovered and it involves Microsoft FixIt (which Windows 8 isn't compatible with). The issue dealt with running it and as it was loading it would show a script error and if you went to the html page for the error it would say "Scripting is not enabled for the "My Computer" zone". I'm unsure if that was just FixIt being incompatible or if that was a real script error. This was interesting as the solutions Microsoft provided to fix this error applied to neither IE 10 or IE 11, even the registry based solutions. However, I did make a lot of changes so maybe I did manage to fix it *crosses fingers*. I will continue to monitor this computer and post with any updates as to whether it fixed it or not.

 

This computer was upgraded to Windows 10 and the same issue applied to Edge as well. Sure Microsoft had bumpy roads before, but this seems to be a common occurrence now with the releases of 8, 8.1, IE 11, and now Windows 10 and Edge (and even Cortana). Too many products to look after in my opinion.
