Just noticed an occurrence with VLC Player.  I have some MPG video files, but it won't play them.  The VLC Website (http://www.videolan.org/vlc/index.html) indicates it can play MPEG-2, DivX, H.264, MKV, WebM, WMV, MP3...files.  This leads me to another question, is  there a difference between MPG and MPEG-2.?  My recollection is that VLC used to play these files before(MPG) but I could be mistaken.  Could my VLC have become corrupted for some reason or another.?

Yep, VLPlayer should play these, make sure you have the updated version,

If necessary uninstall, restart and then reinstall it.

Sometimes folks download a specific codec thinking this may help..... sometimes it does, and sometimes it messes up what was working OK previously.!

The Mpg file format is almost a generalist term, there are specific versions.... see here for info:

For further information on these issues take a look here:

If you cant get VLPlayer to play these files then there are deeper seated issues with your computer

Hope this helps
