Hey, I'm new here and I'm trying to understand the Hijack This program. For the past month or so now my laptop (DELL Inspiron 2600) has had numerous issues. It often locks up, I can't burn any CD's I've tried using my Nero, CD Mate, Burnatonce, etc., etc. I'm also often unable to download some files, and the list goes on. I've run the CWShredder and I'm using Ad-aware Professional SE. Any help would be appreciated, thank you. -Derek

Please Download LSPFix from http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm and Run the Program. Disconnect from the Internet and close all Internet Explorer Windows. Check the "I know what I'm doing" Button and remove all traces of [calsp.dll]. Reboot.

Please go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items, then click fix checked.

R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,CustomizeSearch =
R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {965A592F-8EFA-4250-8630-7960230792F1} - (no file)

O16 - DPF: {87067F04-DE4C-4688-BC3C-4FCF39D609E7} - http://download.webs...91/QDow_AS2.cab

Reboot in safe mode (by tapping F8 at startup and select safe mode from the menu).
Be sure you're able to view hidden files, and remove the following files in bold (if found):

C:\Program Files\Save\<------folder

Reboot your PC.

If you would please, rescan with HijackThis and post a fresh log in this same topic, and let us know how your system's working. <_<

Thanks for your help. the C:\Program Files\Save\ directory was not there. It looks like it was only able to remove/fix a couple of the problems, because the same lines are still listed in the new log. Here's a fresh log of my system too:

Ok lets try removing the entries in safe mode. Reboot in safe mode (by tapping F8 at startup and select safe mode from the menu).

R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,CustomizeSearch =
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WhenUSave] C:\Program Files\Save\Save.exe

Go to start->control panel then click on add/remove programs. Once the list is generated, look for whenusearch and remove it.

Reboot your PC.

If you would please, rescan with HijackThis and post a fresh log in this same topic, and let us know how your system's working. <_<

Did everything you said to do.. same problems still there though. Also, any idea what prog/spyware could've caused my cd burner not to work all of a sudden. If it would matter its external ran into usb.
