Over the summer i purchased a used computer for $300 it has an i5-2500 an AMD firepro v5900, 4gb of ram (I have 8gb of G.Skill 1600mhz otw) and im unaware of the other hardware

so the amd firepro graphics card is decent but its a workstation card, its about $400+ new but aint for gaming, its 2gb card, but i want a gaming card and am unsure how to identify if its supported.

Your MB is the micro ATX type which are often used in smaller cases and this can be a problem with newer video cards as they can be quite long and take up two slots on the MB, can you tell us  what type of case you have as in small form factor, mid or full tower.

 

No to the Zotac brand and for better video/gaming quality I would suggest a 256-bit add on video card, will look for one for you while we wait on the case info.

i am unsure of what type of case is in the computer as i bought it 2nd hand, but i took pictures of it as well as measurements and i can do anything else needed.

the measurements are 18 inch wide and 16 inch tall. i can do in case measurements if needed

Looks like you have plenty of room but to be sure I would measure internally from the back of the case up to the hard drive cage.

 

Couple of cards for you to check out XFX Radeon R7 260X 1075MHz 2GB DDR5 a little under 7" long and the MSI R7 370 GAMING 2G Radeon  10.2" long.

the measurement from the back of the case to the HDD slots is 14" and my current GPU is 10". the thing is is that the slot where the gpu goes is pretty much touching the left side of the case so will this affect what cards can go in it, cause wouldnt the sockets have to be on the left side? sorry may be a dumb question im new to this

Some info while Phillpower2 is abed.

You will have no issues installing a duel slot GPU like the R7 370, 

Look at the slot connector on the single slot FirPro, > http://www.amd.com/e...firepro-3d/5900

It is identical to the connector on the R7 370, the cooler assemble and the extra video ports make it Duel slot > http://www.vuugo.com...ideo-cards/MSI-

Here is your MB manual, see page #13, item F.  There is no componant that would stop you instaling a duel/triple slot GPU. > https://downloadmirr...hProdSpec02.pdf

 

When you remove the Firepro, remove the next lower slot cover, then a duel slot GPU will fit.

im hoping to go 250 or less, while were on the topic maybe you guys can help me, im ordering ram, here is what i chose, it is compatible with  LGA1155 which is what i have, but im unsure on how to know if my desktop is 240 pin size, im just under the assumption that it is.  http://www.newegg.ca...1-426-_-Product(can you confirm that this will work?
