if you havnt seen them already take a look at replies #7 and 8  here and you will see why, you will note that I did mention bad MB settings as a possible cause in my reply #13 

 

I did actually read that (and I remembered it somewhere in the back of my head which is what prompted me to look through BIOS one more time) 

Now, as promised, some pictures! (I didn't promise they'd be good right? Who knew taking pictures of something mostly black, in a poorly lit room would make them a bit grainy huh?).

 

 

So, there we are. A lot less messy with the cables this time around, although my other rig has never had any issues with temperature so I expect this one to run cool and quiet

 

Thanks again for all the help! I'll probably be seeing you again in the future when it comes time to upgrade and I forgot everything again haha!

Well, being the novice that I am I don't have much to add in the way of helping I'm afraid. I've really only looked around this particular sub-forum though, perhaps there is something more to the place
