If you look at the back of your router it should have 5 Ethernet connection jacks. 4 of them are close together and one is by itself. The one by itself should be labeled Internet and must have a cable to your Internet providing device, Cable Modem or DSL Modem or whatever. When you connect the one by itself to the cable from your Internet modem you should get a green light on the front panel which I think is also labeled Ethernet. IF not check that the Internet device is powered on and showing a green light and that the other end of the cable is plugged into the proper jack.
What does the router use for its Internet? Cable modem? DSL modem? Whatever it is, unplug it and your router. Plug the Internett device in first wait 10 seconds then plug in your router.

Call the cable company and ask them to check your modem. They can do remote test on the modem but I expect you will find that they have disconnected you for some stupid reason.
