Good choice of PSU, if you check the PSU links in my sig below you will see how highly regarded Seasonic are 

 

Tip for if you have never swapped out a PSU before, after disconnecting the power cord from the wall socket press the power on button for around 10 seconds to get rid of any residual charge left in the system, get yourself some tape that you can write on, stick a label on each of the connections from the present PSU identifying what they connect to, DVD drive, HDD etc, the 24-pin ATX power connector is hard to miss but one that does sometimes get forgotten is the 4-pin ATX power connector so be sure to stick a label on that, once all connections are in place, tidy up any unused connections using zip ties, helps with the air flow and removes the chance of anything jamming up the CPU cooling fan etc.

 

What about the chassis fan, one is worth investing in and it would be easier to fit with the PSU out as there would be less wires to get in the way while you work.

All done. A few problems but nothing major and my doing lol (e.g. forgetting to plug in motherboard lead!). 

 

Just running the computer now, so hopefully no problems with it. It is not as major a job as I envisaged!  AS a reference I inquired at a local computer shop and they quoted me £35 to fit my new PSU!!

How is the computer behaving with the new PSU fitted.

 

Did you fit an exhaust fan as suggested, it is a no brainer not to as instead of the hot air being expelled at the back it will just be circulating around inside keeping the hardware hot.

 

£35/$50+ to swap out a PSU, outrageous   makes our free guidance even better value though

Behaving fine so far. Not fitted exhaust fan as of yet. I notice that the computer is quieter now and no longer has the fan whirling a lot. Not sure if theta is a good thing or bad, but fan speed indicates a core temperature of 33-40 degrees even after a few hours of use.

Quieter and cooler is good.

 

It is up to you but £2.88 on the exhaust fan will be money well spent, apart from keeping things cool it helps prevent dust build up.
