I copied the Thunderbird profile with all of its collected folders and messages from XP and imported it to Win7, but when I try to open Thunderbird, I discover that there is a second profile and a second "ini" file, and that is the one that loads. I've tried deleting the wrong profile and corresponding "ini" file, but a new profile and new "ini" file quickly appear, and that is the one that loads when I open Thunderbird. As far as I can tell, the imported file contains all the folders from the original Thunderbird on the XP drive. How do I get that one to be the one that loads?
Each of the profiles has a number (shown by ........ below). Each new profile that pops has a new number.
I suspect it may be the settings in the profiles.ini . I tried altering them but so far that hasn't helped.
I'd appreciate any advice on this. I have several years of filed and saved emails from projects that I'm involved with - trying to get anything done without being able to pull up past history is driving me nuts!
The wrong ini file is titled "profiles.ini" and has the following settings.
