i have a hp N5425 laptop that shuts off during bootup at the "windows XP" screen. i have tried doing a complete reinstall using the system recovery disks but it does the exact same thing. funny thing is the computer works fine when i install windows 2000. i believe something that is corrupt isnt getting erased (boot record, registry, etc) when i install xp or there is a problem with the motherboard. it just doesnt make sense to me why 2000 works and xp does not Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. thanks!!
