[Windows 8.1] Stuck on Working on Updates

Hi,

My Asus Zenbook on Windows 8.1 has been stuck on 'Working on Updates 100% complete' for a couple hours now. Prior to this, my laptop suddenly froze which prompted me to restart it. When I restarted it, it started to install updates... and well, here we are now.

I have a recovery USB drive if needed. I was not able to successful gain entry into Safe Mode.

Assistance is appreciated. Thank you.
