I have been working on this by myself along with yours and others suggestions and removal steps for the last few days and think my PC is pretty clean...at least it's not in the shape it was a few days ago. I know you folks are stretched and have a lot of logs to read, but would appreciate someone looking at mine also to see if I can relax yet.

• Install ewido security suite
• When installing, under "Additional Options" uncheck "Install background guard" and "Install scan via context menu".
• Launch ewido, there should be an icon on your desktop double-click it.
• The program will prompt you to update click the OK button
• The program will now go to the main screen

You will need to update ewido to the latest definition files.

• On the left hand side of the main screen click update
• Click on Start

The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
Once the updates are installed do the following:

• Click on scanner
• Make sure the following boxes are checked before scanning:
  • Binder
  • Crypter
  • Archives
• Click on Start Scan
• Let the program scan the machine

While the scan is in progress you will be prompted to clean files, click OK

Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located on the bottom of the screen named Save report

• Click Save report
• Save the report to your desktop

Reboot your machine and post back a new HJT log and the ewido .txt log file you saved by using Add Reply

Place a check against each of the following, making sure you get them all and not any others by mistake:

Okay, I preformed the one line fix with hijackthis. I probably won't be able to tell until I use IE for awhile. That's how I new something was screwed up to begin with. Anyway, here's the new log and hopefully it's fixed now.

Seems to be functioning normally again. One thing I noticed is when I ran one of the utilities you instructed (Spybot, I think), the end result was I'm locked out of an email site (Mailexcite)they say because "your browser's settings are configured to disable cookies and/or javascript". I think it's one of the site's that Spybot has locked out...for some reason. I rarely use it, but didn't understand why...they seem to really scan all mail.

No, don't believe it's any restsriction, but Mailexcite's been bombarded with all sorts of stuff lately, so maybe it's a good thing. If I need to get in there, I'll use Netscape.

Please follow these simple steps in order to keep your computer clean and secure:

• Use an AntiVirus Software - It is very important that your computer has an anti-virus software running on your machine. This alone can save you a lot of trouble with malware in the future.

• Update your AntiVirus Software - It is imperitive that you update your Antivirus software at least once a week (Even more if you wish). If you do not update your antivirus software then it will not be able to catch any of the new variants that may come out.
  
  
• Use a Firewall - I can not stress how important it is that you use a Firewall on your computer. Without a firewall your computer is succeptible to being hacked and taken over. I am very serious about this and see it happen almost every day with my clients. Simply using a Firewall in its default configuration can lower your risk greatly.

• Visit Microsoft's Windows Update Site Frequently - It is important that you visit http://www.windowsupdate.com regularly. This will ensure your computer has always the latest security updates available installed on your computer. If there are new updates to install, install them immediately, reboot your computer, and revisit the site until there are no more critical updates.
  
  
• Install Spybot - Search and Destroy - Install and download Spybot - Search and Destroy with its TeaTimer option. This will provide realtime spyware & hijacker protection on your computer alongside your virus protection. You should also scan your computer with program on a regular basis just as you would an antivirus software.

• Update all these programs regularly - Make sure you update all the programs I have listed regularly. Without regular updates you WILL NOT be protected when new malicious programs are released.
