Hello,

I am new to this forum, so hello to everyone.

I am hoping that someone will be able to help me.

I am setting up a filter rule in Outlok 97 with IMAPSP backend to filter out messages that are cloggin up my inbox.

OK, this is going to hard for me to explain but here goes....

I work with an in house system, (IE based) that has "jobs" that are started by "initiators" and then sent round to people (performers in the system) to approve various aspects of the task.
When the job is started by the initiators, emails are automatically sent out to the task performers notifying them that they have a task in the system that needs their attention. There are alot of performers in certain categories, so quite often a large number of performers will receive these automatic emails.

The problem starts when these emails are going out to the performers that are out of the office and they have a typical "out of the office" filter applied to their own outlook and this therefore returns the emails back to the initiator. (even though the emails are generated from the system. I cannot change this as it is helpful at times to know when certain performers are away)

The initiators can receive over 100 emails back per day as many poeple may be traveling etc at times.

All of these emails have a common piece of text in the subject line that I can filter out. I cannot filter the body of the message as it is different each time. (cause it's the performers saying, "i'm out of the office till etc etc)

OK, Hopefully I'm still making sense....
Pls bear with me....

So, I've selected a piece of text in the subject line that is common to the system generated emails and can successfully filter these out on my PC but only as long as the message is sent to me normally. By this I mean simply forwarded or replied to etc.

If I try to filter one of the system generated emails directly, they simply won't filter , even though they are identical.....???

It's kind of like Outlook can't filter an already filtered email?

So, If I táke one of the non-filtered emails that have shown up in my inbox and forward the exact message to a colleage of mine and they forward to straight back to me, it filters perfectly?
I have asked them to try it also by deleting the message body and deleting the message header only too, and still they filtered correctly......

Does anyone have any ideas?

Sorry, I know that this is long winded.....
