I stumbled onto this forum after having real trouble with the ABI network pop-ups.

Right, after 1) CleanUp!, Ad-aware, CWShredder, Spybot S&D scans
2) Trend Housecall & Activescan

Here is my

Welcome Guevara to Geeks to Go!

Please read these instructions carefully. You may want to print them. Copy the text to a Notepad file and save it to your desktop! We will need the file later.
Be sure to follow ALL instructions!

Please download the trial version of Ewido Security Suite here:
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/
Install it, and update the definitions to the newest files. Do NOT run a scan yet.

***

download the Killbox.
Unzip it to the desktop but do NOT run it yet.

***

Please download Nailfix from here:
http://www.noidea.us...050515010747824
Unzip it to the desktop but please do NOT run it yet.

***

Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:
1) Restart your computer
2) After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
3) Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
4) Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.

For additional help in booting into Safe Mode, see the following site:
http://www.pchell.co.../safemode.shtml

***

Once in Safe Mode, please double-click on Nailfix.cmd. Your desktop and icons will disappear and reappear, and a window should open and close very quickly --- this is normal.

***

Next please run HijackThis, click Scan, and check:

Right, I get most of that.

However, the zipped Nailfix I dled via the link provided couldn't be unzipped.

Also,

"Open the Notepad file where you saved the file paths earlier and copy the file paths below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C"

Which file paths?

====================================
c:\documents and settings\joseph macdonald\local settings\temp\3.exe
C:\documents and settings\joseph macdonald\local settings\temp\KS.exe
C:\documents and settings\joseph macdonald\local settings\temp\M9HJ.exe
C:\documents and settings\joseph macdonald\local settings\temp\ME.exe
C:\documents and settings\joseph macdonald\local settings\temp\RKkyo.exe
C:\winnt\system32\3y.exe
C:\winnt\system32\BUByIg.exe
c:\winnt\system32\ERw.exe
C:\winnt\system32\HYsL7Nq.exe
C:\winnt\system32\keYRZ.exe
C:\winnt\system32\o5.exe
c:\winnt\system32\RBeu.exe
c:\winnt\system32\sdofmsz.exe
c:\winnt\system32\VFlwYk.exe
==============================

Those ones?

You did download the nailfix.zip? Doubleclick the file and it should open.

And yes, those are the files. Select all of them in the notepad file. Then copy it, go to Killbox and move on with the advise.

Good luck.

Hello,

Having a slight problem here. When I tried to boot in Safe mode, it made comments about being unable to do so, with a big blue STOP screen. It made referances to BIOS shadowing etc and hardware that isn't properly installed that could be the reason for this. It said reboot, so I did, then set-up suddenly popped up and something about optimised defaults selected. Now my mouse isn't on the screen at all, and i've had to use my keyboard to get to this page to reply.

What's going on?

Regards,

G

Sorry for not getting back to you earlier.

Are you using a wireless mouse (that won't work in safe mode).

Can you give more info, are there errors appearing (please tell me the message including the errornumbers).

Right, back on track with this.

Still unable to boot into safe mode, here is the error message, with consistent formatting.
