Hey everyone,

I'm basically posting this on every forum I'm a member of but I'm having an issue. I want to use a genuine copy of Windows and I have one for Windows 10 as well as Windows 7, and can get one for 8 if I need to.

I get them through school and currently am on the Windows 10 image that I used, but the problem is that it is the education version. So now I'm stuck with "Windows 10 Education" on the bottom right of the desktop and it won't go away, I'm not sure if I'll have future issues.

My Windows 7 disk is also from school but for some reason it's freezing at the splash screen where the Windows icon is spinning, so I stopped trying. I disabled secure boot mode, but couldn't find where to enable legacy mode as someone had directed.

Is there a free way to switch to Windows 10 home from where I'm at now? Or what steps can I take?

Thanks

If you compare the features you get with say Windows 10 Home and Windows 10 Education, you won't really see much of a difference.

It wasn't about the features it's that it seems like I'm going to eventually have to connect my account to something? If this is wrong please tell me. Also, do you know if it is possible to remove at the bottom right where it says 'Windows 10 Education' from the desktop? I changed my background a couple times and it did not work. I tried installing Windows 7 and it screwed up my whole system so right now I'm on Ubuntu, but I hate it.

Windows 10 Education is a different version of Windows compared to Pro or Home. So most likely you are stuck with it, because it is installed on your PC. There should be some info on Microsoft's website, but unless i'm sure Education is a different version than Pro or Home.
