I have to a large extent learnt to live without Preview. Something abruptly happened without any warning a couple of months ago and after that  the computer crashed every time it was opened. A friend helped me a lot by telling me that I could use other programs to open PDFs, and things got better again when someone else told me how to change the program set as the default to open PDFs.

But today I have been struggling with a PDF that is too wide for an A4 sheet of paper and so, when I print, a millimetre or two is lost on the right and the left.

I think that when I was using Preview I was able to scale the image to fit the page but there doesn't seem to be this option in Safari or the PDF editor I (think I) downloaded some time ago (Wondershare PDF Editor Pro).

Is it possible to uninstall and reinstall Preview and might that do the trick?

I don't know where it lives on the computer and just now thought I'd see if Spotlight gave me any direction on this. So I typed "Preview" into Spotlight and immediately the computer crashed, exactly how it does when I open the program inadvertently.
