Hi,

I read that Microsoft is about to stop supporting Windows 8 so I guess that I need to bite the bullet and upgrade this computer.  Do you have any tips, tricks or suggestions that I need to know before doing it?  Thank you.

Make sure you backup any important data; you never know what may happen when upgrading an OS.

That is correct.  I do keep my computer very backed up.  I know there are things you need to be aware of when upgrading to Windows 10, but want to know what things one might need to know on the front side of 8.1.  Thank you.

I would make sure all data is backed up. Verify no virus or malware. Clean out the temp folders, recycle bin, etc, and then defrag the drive ( unless it is a SSD).
Basically get it to a optimum condition.

Good idea ^ I backup my data before I upgrade. Lucky I did, because it erased everything even though it was an upgrade?! Always do this in case you encounter problems.
