Hi, I purchased a pre-owned PC locally and am wondering if there's a way to change the previous owner's name, which appears in the Command Prompt (ie C:\Users\Jason). I'd like to do this without having to reformat and fresh install OS. Thanks in advance!

Hi Ma Duce,
Try the steps below to change the name of the user account.
- Click Start located in the bottom left corner.
- Click Control Panel.
- Click User Accounts and Family Safety.
- Click User Accounts.
- Click Change your account name.
- Put in your new name and click change name.
If that does not work try the instructions located on this website.

Hi,
The Safer and Easy way create a new user account for you and delete the older one. Make sure you have your account or another one with Administrator privileges.
