I have recently contracted the trojan.alwayup virus as detected by Norton Antivirus. I have been researching some online and have read some stuff off of this site about hijackthis and such and have found the information very helpful. I have followed the steps for the Adaware scanning and the other stuff but the problem persists. I have now downloaded and run hijackthis and was wondering if I could get someone to analyze it for me to help me solve my problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Here is my log:

Update CWShredder

* Open CWShredder and click I AGREE
* Click Check For Update
* Close CWShredder

Please download the trial version of Ewido Security Suite here:

Install it, and update the definitions to the newest files. Do NOT run a scan yet.

Please download Nailfix from here:

Now run CWShredder. Click I Agree, then Fix and then Next, let it fix everything it asks about


Run the LQfix from your desktop

Now run Cleanup!

Then please run Ewido, and run a full scan.

Now run Ewido a second time Save the logfile from the scan. ( if the scan freezes run it again Please)

You will de running Ewido 2 times in safemode or more if you want

close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items, then click fix checked. If present

Now reboot and Post back the Ewido log and a new Hijack log

I could get LQfix and CWShredder to work, but I couldnt get Cleanup40, ewido, or nailfix to download and work properly. I will say that I already notice less popups. I'm hardly getting any. Thanks for your help so far. Let me know what else I need to do.

Okay, sorry it's been so long since I've responded but I've been out of town. Anyways, I downloaded the file you said to and extracted it. When I tried to run it though, it says:

Oh, and also, when the DOS window comes up with the black background, it says:

Diregard the parameters message
The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.



It just repeats that last line every time I click 'Close' or 'Ignore'

1. Unzip/extract the files inside to a folder on your desktop.
2. Open the folder. Double click on FindIt's.bat and wait for Notepad to open a text file. It will take a while so please be patient... Note: If you are having problems using FindIt's.bat (16 bit error), copy autoexec.nt from the C:\WINDOWS\repair folder to C:\WINDOWS\system32 folder. Now try running FindIt's.bat.
3. Then post the results here along with the new HijackThis log.

Now close all windows other than HiJackThis, then click Fix Checked. Reboot into safe mode.

Restart your computer and as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap F8. A menu should come up where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode.

Please remove these entries from Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel(if present):

Please download Spybot Search & Destroy Update it but don't scan

Okay I got the ewido thing to download and it just seemed to run itself. I may have done something to start it when I updated, some popups keep messing me up. Anyways, I did all that stuff and as far as things in my Add/Remove section was the "websavings from ebates" program. I couldnt remove it or the "Internet Optimizer" program. Please Download the following tools to assist us in removing this infection!

• Download WinPFind
  • Right Click the Zip Folder and Select "Extract All"
  • Extract it somewhere you will remember like the Desktop
  • Dont do anything with it yet!
• Download Track qoo
  • Save it somewhere you will remember like the Desktop

Reboot into Safe Mode
Restart your computer and as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap F8. A menu should come up where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode.

Using windows explorer( right click start, left click explore)
Search for and delete these files
C:\WINDOWS\system32\PSof1.exe
C:\WINDOWS\wupdt.exe

Doubleclick WinPFind.exe

• Click "Start Scan"
• It will scan the entire System, so please be patient!
• Once the Scan is Complete
• Go to the WinPFind folder
• Locate WinPFind.txt
• Place those results in the next post!

Reboot back to Normal Mode!

Double Click on "Track qoo.vbs"

Note - If you Antivirus has Script Blocking, you will get a Pop Up Windows asking you what to do. Allow this Entire Script to Run, its harmless!

Wait a few seconds and a notepad page will pop up, Copy & Paste those results and place them in the next post along with the results of WinPFind!
