 I've installed a new hard drive (5 year old Dell Inspiron 580 Intel Core 5i, 750 @ 2.67Ghz, 8 GB Ram, Windows 7 64-bit)had detected errors - "back up now and replace" errors).  Bought the recommended hard drive from Dell.  I've reinstalled windows 7 (first) and then the drivers (had the disc from Dell). However, the video drivers  (Intel ClarkDale \integrated Graphics Rev:A00) will not install, insisting my system doesn't meet the necessary requirements. As I'm out of warranty, Dell is rather like 'too bad, so sad' and my on-line support contract expired last September. I've gone to the Dell website and loaded drivers from there (as per my service tag requirements) - still same dratted message about not meeting system requirements. It also reads my whiz-bang 24" flat screen monitor as a generic monitor. I've tried every way to load drivers for this (disc and Dell website), but still no change. I don't know if the monitor is related to the issue, but I cannot progress with my reinstall from here without the video card drivers working. Any ideas?

First thing you need with an intel Dell is the chipset utility.  Have you installed it?

Thank you for the reply.  I did install the chipset, but I did not do it as the first thing I installed. Should this make a difference?  I did it again, just to be sure and then tried the video card driver again, but still the same message of not meeting minimum requirements.

Right click on Computer and select Manage then Device Manager,  View, Show Hidden Devices.

 

How many yellow flagged devices do you see?  Do any of them say Unknown?
