Set Default Programs ?

Help please in setting the options on the Set Default Programs screen on my W8.1 desktop. I am thoroughly confused by the screen instructions.

 

FWIW, I use Open Office Write to compose text messages and I definitely want to see the full path of a file when I click Properties after a right click.

Also you mentioned that you want to see the full path of the file. There is a trick. Hold Shift while right clicking on the file. You will see there in the menu will be new item called "copy as path". When you click it full path of file will be copied to your clipboard. 

 

Here is the picture of full path of the file displayed in file properties.
