Could you try going into your folder of were Ad-aware is installed.
Default:
Default: C:\Program Files\Lavasoft\Ad-Aware SE Personal
Could you change the defs.ref to defs.old.ref
Please then open Ad-aware, and try to update your definition file!
Good luck

I have this same problem. Including reinstalling and still no joy. I tried renaming the file as directed, but still no successful download of definitions.

I'm using the Windows Firewall, as well as whatever the Netgear router on out system provides. Interestingly, as I was checking this thread, I again tried to update, and it worked correctly for the first time in several days. Scanning as I write this. News tomorrow!

Thanks for updating us RJH
I've seen a few cases where this has been happening, It seems that it will connect and download the updates,
For any others having this problem you can keep trying or install the updates manually
Current defs SE1R51 21.06.2005
http://download.lava...public/defs.zip
Manual Installation: Unzip the archive, replace the existing file and restart Ad-Aware\Ad-Watch.

All's still well with my updates. I've deleted the definitions file and it reloaded properly today also.
Thanks for the help!
