Is the product number that shows in Speccy the license number for 8.1?

Hi redsox1,

 

I'm not sure what your referring to when you say product number but If you go to the Operating System tab and look for Serial Number your license will be next to it.

Did your computer ship with Windows 8.1 or was it upgraded to 8.1 from Windows 8, this is important as the product key on OEM computers such as your HP notebook from Windows 8 onwards are stored on the BIOS chip, so if shipped with Windows 8 the product key shown for 8.1 in Speccy will not correspond with what is mapped on the BIOS chip, for a reminder, see reply #20 in your other thread here for Windows product key details.

They just called ag again. Tried hard drive, still shuttingpdown. Said its moth er boardor prossler

If it is still the same shutting down scenario I suspect the MB or the power button board, this assessment from afar though and the shop there may know something that we don`t.
