The Speedfan one is right and shows high CPU temps and high usage for a processor that is doing nothing.

HWMonitor is not the correct version and does not show us what we need, the download that you want is to the left, further down and not the Pro version, try again for us please and be sure to uninstall Pro first in case you forget later.

Here is the new version. I took another screen shot of Speed Fan.

Speedfan shows the CPU as being maxed out usage wise and smoking hot, not too sure how reliable the readings are as your computer should shut down when the temps reach the CPUs max safe operating temp which is 64.1°C, the only time that it would not shut down would be if the thermal cut out setting had been disabled in the BIOS.

Some of the HWMonitor info is missing, grab another screenshot for us but this time make sure that all of the + signs have been checked so that it expands the sensor readings, the Intel Pentium D 820 for instance is shown to not be expanded in the screenshot above.

If HWMonitor shows the same high CPU readings as the Diode1 and the CPU temp in Speedfan something is seriously wrong, your voltages are shown to be fine btw.

HWMonitor also shows the CPU to be maxed out at 100% usage - have any settings in the BIOS ever been changed.

Please restart your computer and check the temperatures/voltages in the BIOS, no screenshot is required just make a note of the temperatures and the +3.3V, +5V and the +12V and post them with your next reply.

While in the BIOS, look for an option that says "restore default" or "most stable" settings, if you find one of these, select it, save the new settings (commonly by pressing F10) exit and then check Speedfan and HWMonitor to see if the readings have dropped, ** if there is an optimised settings option please do not select it as it is a form of of overclocking and can prevent your computer from booting up.

I looked in the BIOS and couldn't find anything that showed the voltages or temperatures of the motherboard.

This is a Gateway computer, maybe it is under another F function.

Anyway, I did locates the restore defaults button and selected that.

Checked the speed fan and HW monitor programs again and they both showed 90 degrees and 91 degrees respectively and voltages the same.

CPU usage was still at 100%

Did you see any settings for fan control or shut down temperatures in the BIOS.

Lets see if we can identify what/if anything is running that would explain the high CPU usage;

Download Process Explorer which you can obtain from here

Save it to your desktop then run it (Vista or Win7 - right click and Run as Administrator).

View, Select Column, check Verified Signer, OK

Options, Verify Image Signatures

 Click twice on the CPU column header to arrange things by CPU usage, this will put the services with the highest CPU usage at the top of the log.

Wait a minimum of a minute then do the following go to

File, Save As, Save.  Open the file Procexp.txt on your desktop and copy/paste the text into your next reply for us.

There are still traces of McAfee on your computer, namely McSACore.exe 20,568 K 3,336 K 1484 SiteAdvisor McAfee, Inc. (Verified) McAfee, will come back to this.

Sorry to be a pest but would you mind running PE again and then grabbing a screenshot for us, bit pushed for time over the next couple of days and the screenshot will make the results easier and quicker to read, don`t forget, before taking the screenshot, make sure that the scroll bar is right to the top and to Click twice on the CPU column header to arrange things by CPU usage, this will put the services with the highest CPU usage at the top of the log.

JAFYI: svchost.exe 20,452 K 12,868 K 1616 Generic Host Process for Win32 Services Microsoft Corporation (No signature was present in the subject) Microsoft Corporation is the highest reading from your log but this covers many different services and will be high, if the readings in your screenshot are the same as the above I will post some info for how you can check what exactly is running.

Apologies for the delay getting back to you klockdoc, been rather busy elsewhere I`m afraid  :(

Not saying with 100% certainty that you are but it is entirely possible that your computer is infected with malware, the 34.85% CPU usage of dllhost.exe 32 COM Surrogate is most likely what is ramping up your temperatures, similar problems experienced by others here please disregard any suggested fixes at any of those links and allow the GTG malware experts to take care of the issue for you if needs be.

Please follow the GTG malware redirection information below;

I suspect that you have some malware on your computer causing issues that we are not able to solve through means we can use here in the Tech Forums. I suggest you read the 'Start Here' topic found here. With these self-help tools you have a high chance of fixing the problems on your own. If you are still having problems after following Step 3 of the guide, continue with Step 4 and 5 and post in the Malware Forum. If you are unable to run any programs, Please create a topic stating what you have tried so far and that you are unable to run any programs. Also, Please do NOT post the logs in this thread.

If you are still having issues after the malware expert gives you a clean bill of health, Please return to THIS thread and we will pursue other options to help you solve your current problem(s).

NB: There are also two instances of Windows installer running with one showing 22.73% CPU usage, again this is not right and will be causing problems,

Edit to add, if you do need to start a new thread on the malware forums, please include a link to this thread in your OP pointing to replies #37 to 41, thanks.
