VDOWNLOADER download, Avast Win32:Adware-gen block [Solved]

I have downloaded this free software with no problems before

 

 

but this time Avast is telling me it blocked a threat when I tried to download it.  Is this a true threat or a false positive?

Hi. :)

The actual downloaded file once activated will begin to download and install further installation files which also include what is known as PUP's(potentially unwanted programs) etc...

Which in this case is the OpenCandy advertisement(adware) and or similar dross. Most likely since not a problem in the past; the vendor has now resorted to such third party software for extra revenue.

My friendly advise is steer clear and seek alternative software at say MajorGeeks for example.
