Hi, I have over a thousand dvds which takes up a considerable amount of space.  I am wondering what sort of program I would need to copy them onto a hard drive so I can use it on a tv set.  tried converting them to an iso file but the tv didn't recognise them.  any help would be great.

:welcome:   FayDawn,

Is it a Smart TV that has USB ports.

Are the DVDs burned copies or store purchased full versions, reason that I ask is because retail versions are often encrypted to combat video piracy and you may need to use a paid for decoding software if that is the case, I`m sure that I don`t need to advise you of this but have got to say it for the benefit of others that may read the thread, films protected by encryption/copyright cannot be copied for redistribution and doing so can get folk into trouble with the authorities.

In answer to your question, for ripping the movies to your HDD use DVDShrink for playback use Handbrake and for encrypted films see if MakeMKV beta is still free.

Don't think selling burned movies it's not good. The authorities might or gonna find you.

thanks for the help.   will be trying the dvd shrink.  I think I used that several years ago when my kids were small and I was buying a new copy of the same dvd for months.  I don't want to burn and sell, purely for my own use as I have too many discs and not enough space to store them.

You are most welcome and thank you for the follow up FayDawn  :)

FWIW: I read and understood your question and know why you needed such software and posting the additional information that I did was done so that anyone else that may read your thread is well aware that there are restrictions on what the software can be used for
