Guys,

I can't get rid of media access. I've tried Safe mode boot and removed it through HijackThis but upon rebooting it reppears in C:\Program Files and I think this is the cause of slowing the system down. Windows task manager does not come up when I press Cntl + Alt + Delete.

Any help would be gratefully received. Here's my HijackThis log file:

Hi wacky

Please read through the instructions before you start (you may want to print this out).

You are running HijackThis from its zipped archive; please create a new folder for it and unzip the program into it. It is very important you do this before anything else!

Please set your system to show all files; please see here if you're unsure how to do this.

Please go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items:
R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [MSN MESSENGER] msmmsgr.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WINDOWS SYSTEM] ninfoie.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [System Services] seasnxt.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Internet Optimizer] "C:\Program Files\Internet Optimizer\optimize.exe"
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [gah95on6] C:\WINDOWS\System32\gah95on6.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Media Access] C:\Program Files\Media Access\MediaAccK.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [MSN MESSENGER] msmmsgr.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [WINDOWS SYSTEM] ninfoie.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [System Services] seasnxt.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\RunServices: [System Services] seasnxt.exe

Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.

Using Windows Explorer, locate the following files/folders, and delete them:
C:\WINDOWS\System32\ninfoie.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\gah95on6.exe
msmmsgr.exe
ninfoie.exe
seasnxt.exe
C:\Program Files\Internet Optimizer\optimize.exe
C:\Program Files\Media Access\MediaAccK.exe

Exit Explorer.Reboot as normal.

Please run the following free, online virus scans.
http://www.pandasoft...n_principal.htm
http://housecall.tre.../start_corp.asp
Please post the logs From Panda virus scan and HJT.logWe will need them to remove previous infections that have left files on your system.

Thanks thatman, that seems to have done the trick. My computer is now behaving. My son (on my home wireless network) has a very similar problem. Can you please have a look at the HijackThis log from his computer and tell us what needs to be done.

Thanks in advance. Here is the log file:
