is it possible to create a software that can connect to an existing website database without much interference on the websites database system? this is for research purposes only. Thank You!

Yes..  In fact if you check the Perl CPAN site you may find one already written that just needs a bit of tweaking.  https://www.perl.org/

I used some existing Perl software once to connect to a site and download the info I wanted automatically.  Unfortunately that was 10 years ago and I don't remember the name of the module I used.
