Doesn't work like this?

http://netsquirrel.c...sconfig_xp.html

You can use autoruns from

Download Save and Run the program

Once it loads it should have an entry for

IntelAudioStudio

Intel Audio Studio

or

IntelAudioStudio.exe

which you can just uncheck.  Then close autoruns, reboot.

No, a black screen (like the DOS screen or CMD)  pops up, then blinks out.

Noting like the screen shot you're showing.

At work, will try again tonight

Do Start, Run, CMD, Enter which should bring up a Command Window.  Type:

Start msconfig

then hit Enter.

That is supposed to bring it up.  Does it give you an error message?

You can also try:

\WINDOWS\pchealth\helpctr\binaries\msconfig

which is the full path to msconfig.

Yes, msconfig works okay.

You mentioned ipconfig in your original message.

I clicked it off and then pressed apply.

yes.

And while I was there, I got rid of an Airpluscfg.exe error that was for rangebooster. (entry point could not be found) and also WZCSLDR2.exe was for something else.

I thought the rangebooster was part of an system that ATT added for my desk top when they installed uverse. evidently not,. It didn't affect the working of it.

So I must not have needed them anyway.

Both files were part of a wireless driver:

http://www.neuber.co...csldr2.exe.html

If you try to update them you need need to recheck them in msconfig first.

I think I'm go to go then.

When I thought I was downloading Avast free, I downloaded the 30 day trial version. I guess when time is up I will just uninstall the one version and then download the free.

Again, thank you very much for your help.

Now I have to clean the fans and put another 1G of RAM in the system.
