Apologies as a newbie if this has been covered elsewhere, but here goes.  I've had various makes and models of mobile phones for the last 20 years, and in that time have created my own Mp3 ringtone clips - about 150 of them. For each new phone, all I had to do was to transfer the files to the phone, into the relevant folder, eg media or music, and then i could choose one file as my ringtone.  It was all done in a matter of minutes.  And now I have my first super advanced iPhone - a 5S, and this is driving me crazy.  Google searches come up with very complicated procedures - converting to AAC formats, then MP4r for ringtones etc, one at a time.  I accept that this is all tied up with Apple wanting you to buy from the iStore, but why have we gone so far backwards in 20 years?

You can make your ringtones very simply with some apps. For example this one: https://itunes.apple...d394845957?mt=8

Thanks for that.  I've downloaded that app, and created a few ringtones, but still can't get the iPhone to "see" them.  This is my first Apple product in nearly 30 years of mobile phone usage, and as I said before, using my own mp3 clips as ringtones only ever took a couple of minutes.  This is driving me crazy.

shall10 - there are also many other apps which will help you with your problem. If you don't know how to use this app, try something else.

Cheers,

Adam

Thanks, Adam - yes, I have seen a few out there.  Still frustrated with Apple that you need an app at all - bring back my Nokia 6110!
