ok i've no idea why fedora is being difficult at the moment, can you download and try installing opensuse from here :- https://software.opensuse.org/421/en

 

if you can install that without problems then that should rule out a problem with your hard drive partitions then we'll try fedora again with luck it will install then.

 

 

forgot to say leave the 45GB as empty space, before trying to install suse.

you can try any distro you like, (except fedora.  ) yes leave the 45GB as unpartitioned.

 

i'm hoping after the 45GB has been formatted with a linux file system and a distro has been installed it will fix whatever the problem is fedora seems to have using that space.

 

also can you do a quick run of fedora live first and run this command as root in a terminal and post a screen shot of it so i can see the partition layout.

 

fdisk -l

ok i take it ubuntu installed with no problems then.

 

i'd love to know why fedora was giving you so much problems tho.

 

personally i'd use mint instead of ubuntu if i wasn't already using suse, not that there's anything wrong with ubuntu.

you'll also find they have great support with loads of user help topics written for ubuntu when you do a google search for anything.

When I installed Fedora, I had to select the Partitioning steps and confirm, even when it was set to automatic. Fedora is a little bit confusing, but it is quite versatile once it is configured
