So my mother decides to buy a PC form her friend so she can work from home. And of course im left with cleaning it up and getting it in a "steady" setup for her. To my believe the PC is running Windows XP Professional, haha, What a travesty! So she gave me her friends login information. I logged in and started cleaning up. Removing any personal files left over. Removed any and all outdated, old and useless programs. After I felt as thought I had gotten everything, I factory reset the PC. Now here's where it all went wrong. Since she didn't have all the components that she needed at the time she got the PC, I didn't do much after the factory reset was complete. Now that she has all she need 2 TV's that doubles as monitors. Keyboard and Mouse and 1 VGA Y-Splitter 1 Male to 2 Female and 2 Male to Male. So after I hooked everything up yesterday so she can work through the weekend. I was prompted to login. I was confused since I didn't make an account, but the default Username in the box was "Administrator" so I figured it was the default account. So I tried "Password" , "password" and no password. But it keeps saying "System could not log you in. Make sure the username and the domain name is correct. Letters in password must be type with exact casings." Now I know that I didn't make a password and if the normal ones aren't working. Then whats the next step to take. If there is a way of fixing this without getting a new PC then that would be great. But if not then to bad for her.

:welcome:   FattBoi94,

There should be no default password if one has not been set and the password field should therefore be left blank, other than that as per the GTG Terms of Use we cannot help regarding bypassing passwords;

BIOS or Operating System's passwords are there for the purpose related to Security and Privacy to protect the legitimate owner of a machine. While there are many locations on the Internet that might help you learn about managing passwords for a machine's BIOS or Operating System, we a G2G do not assist in what amounts to hacking past a machine's Security and Privacy safeguards.

While such requests are often legitimate, and come from users who experience exactly the kind of problem that you post, we have no way of determining legitimate vs. not legitimate, therefore we do not respond to such requests.
