I'm working on it now.

Should I enable Windows Defender or Windows Firewall at all? I'm going to install Avast Free.

 

EDIT: 

I don't remember running anything called ComboFix. When I run the uninstall command, I get: "Windows cannot find 'ComboFix'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again."

 

EDIT 2:

During the CryptoPrevent install, after Applying the Default protection, and before I have seen a message about the Windows Sidebar and Desktop Gadgets, it's asking if I'd like to "Whitelist all items in known blocked locations." I've attached a screenshot.

Hi Regulardude

Avast uses the windows firewall so will configure this. I would leave windows defender turned off. Avast does a good enough job and it would be just another resource.

Combofix was not installed as windows can't find it so ignore this step. It won't cause any issues.

I would just click No to the whitelist.
