Not sure if I am posting to the right forum. My laptop was either rebooting on its own or freezing when being used. Dell had me send it in. They called to say it was liquid damage & not covered under warranty. They replaced the keyboard, palmrest, & screen. I do not remember spilling anything on it and only I use it. Does this sound right?

:welcome:   calespi,

Honest answer is that no one here can say with 100% certainty but fwiw spilling liquid on any electrical equipment would normally cause a short circuit, where computers are concerned in many cases this would normally result in the motherboard and other hardware being completely ruined, it would depend on the amount and type of fluid concerned, whether or not the computer was powered up at the time and in some cases if the computer was allowed to dry out naturally before being restarted.

The above asides, the computer behaviour that you describe and the need to replace the screen is not something that I personally feel would be caused by the ingress of fluid of any kind, something like a small amount of sugary drink getting on the keypad and track pad could warrant the need for their replacement, symptoms of a bad keypad would typically be sticking or non functional keys and the track pad just not working at all.

End of the day, no one else uses the computer and only yourself knows whether or not you ever spilled anything on the notebook, if you are adamant that you never have you should open a dispute with Dell.
