This has been happening for about 2 weeks now but my laptop that I play games and homework with has been acting a little off, my given laptop hard drive is dying but that has been like that for about 2-3 months and I have a 1 TB external hard drive that I use to reduce the stress on the hard drive. But recently when I launch my computer it works everything normally, everything is fine everything is responding but when I try to open a program everything just stops working I've tried de-fragging the hard drive and nothing was wrong except for a few bad sectors. It has gotten worse to where I have to keep it running so it works properly. Routine. (1) Turns on computer (2) Types in username and password (3) Tries to open steam, chrome, and random stuff. (4) Nothing opens until 3 hours later on which it was ordered to open. I need help thanks. I have windows 10

:welcome:   ToppestKek,

I've tried de-fragging the hard drive and nothing was wrong except for a few bad sectors.

As soon as you become aware of bad sectors on a HDD if not done already you should create a back up image and replace the HDD asap as it is only a matter of time before the drive fails completely, see tutorial here courtesy of Essexboy for how to create a back up image and recovery device.

Download then run Speccy (free) and post the resultant url for us, details here,  this will provide us with information about your computer hardware + any software that you have installed that may explain the present issue/s.
