Before turning the computer off, I restarted it without putting it into safe mode, but got again a BSOD.

So I wonder what was it in the beginning that caused it to start normal for a few times?

OK lets try another programme...  Apart from the blue screens how is the computer otherwise ?

Please download MiniToolBox, save it to your desktop and run it.
minitoolbox.JPG
Checkmark the following checkboxes:
  • Flush DNS
  • Report IE Proxy Settings
  • Reset IE Proxy Settings
  • Report FF Proxy Settings
  • Reset FF Proxy Settings
  • List content of Hosts
  • List IP configuration
  • List Winsock Entries
  • List last 10 Event Viewer log
  • List Installed Programs
  • List Devices
  • List Users, Partitions and Memory size.
  • List Minidump Files
Click Go and post the result (Result.txt). A copy of MTB.txt will be saved in the same directory the tool is run.

Note: When using "Reset FF Proxy Settings" option Firefox should be closed.

Hi Essexboy,

I think after I ran the Fixlist file that you posted on page 1, the computer started a few times normal,

so I wonder if it would be worth a try and run it again?

When you say,  "Please download MiniToolBox, save it to your desktop and run it."

You mean, download it into the Download folder and then move it to the desktop folder?

Is that right? Otherwise I would be doing it wrong!

Thanks and results are in next post, Richard

Open notepad and copy/paste the text in the quotebox below into it:

CreateRestorePoint:
Rapport (Version: 3.5.1205.12 - Trusteer) Hidden
Rapport (x32 Version: 3.5.1507.63 - Trusteer) Hidden
RemoveProxy:
EmptyTemp:
CMD: bitsadmin /reset /allusers

Save this as fixlist.txt, in the same location as FRST.exe

Hi,

below is the result from the Fixlog.

It still didn't work, but what might be very interesting for you is this: When the computer starts

normally, it works fine until my user name appears and a box to enter my password. Until then

everything seems fine. Only when I enter my password and press enter, then the laptop

is busy for a bit and then comes up with the blue screen. In other words, the blue screen does not

appear right away upon turning the laptop on. In case that indicates something.

Thanks, Richard

Ah that may be narrowing down the problem

First in safe mode create a new user account http://www.bleepingc...indows-vista-7/
Ensure that the new account is an administrator one

Once done reboot to normal windows and sign in with the new account
Now see how it behaves with regards to starting and BSOD

Unfortunately it didn't make any difference!

Still got a blue screen after signing on with the new account.

Can I run the first fix.txt again, because I think after that it

was okay for a few starts?

Also, tomorrow (Thursday) I will go away until Wednesday, so

there might be a delay in me responding.

Thanks, Richard

Hi Essexboy,

I did that whilst in Toronto over a long weekend (great city), but everything was good.

I don't recall if there was a text file or something like that at the end, but don't think so.

If you are running out of options, then maybe I bring it to a Lenovo dealer and they

can fix that hardware issue plus the BSOD.

Thanks, Richard

I reckon this is all hardware related in some way but I am not quite sure where the problem lies

As if it was malware of any description then it would not have affected the new user that you created in the same way, which was why I asked for chkdsk as it was pointing in the direction of the HDD

The only other option I can think of would be a RAM problem

But, to get it sorted properly then mayhap a Lenovo dealer would be best. are you still under warranty ?

Hello Essexboy,

sorry for the pause, other things just took me away from that project!

First off, I want to thank you for trying to help!

Secondly, on May 1st at 9:26 you posted a fix for my computer that

helped for a few days or starts, so now I would like to run that

fix again and see what happens. Is that possible or will that damage

my computer?

Thanks again, Richard

That will not do a great deal as most of the lines will have been removed however, this similar fix will remove junk

Are you still experiencing blue screens ?
