Great!

Get the free version of Speccy:

http://www.filehippo...download_speccy (Look in the upper right for the Download
Latest Version button  - Do NOT press the large Start Download button on the upper left!)  Download, Save and Install it.  Run Speccy.  When it finishes (the little icon in the bottom left will stop moving), File, Save as Text File,  (to your desktop) note the name it gives. OK.  Open the file in notepad and delete the line that gives the serial number of your Operating System.  (It will be near the top about 10 lines down.) Attach the file to your next post.  Uninstall Speccy.

Get Process Explorer

Save it to your desktop then run it (Vista or Win7 - right click and Run As Administrator).

View, Select Column, check Verified Signer, OK
Options, Verify Image Signatures

Click twice on the CPU column header  to sort things by CPU usage with the big hitters at the top.

Wait a full minute then:

File, Save As, Save.  Note the file name.  Open the file  on your desktop and copy and paste the text to a reply.

Hiya,

I can't copy paste them (the website says reply too long), so I'm attaching them via .txt files.

Speccy doesn't look too bad,  Your hard drive is getting old and you are getting some read errors:

S.M.A.R.T attributes
01
Attribute name Read Error Rate
Real value 0
Current 200
Worst 200
Threshold 51
Raw Value 00000001E2
Status Good

Also you have a service pending:

Start pending Peer Name Resolution Protocol

We could turn it off:

Finally you are running out of space on the C:

Partition 2
Partition ID Disk #0, Partition #2
Disk Letter C:
File System NTFS
Volume Serial Number 2267AAFE
Size 285 GB
Used Space 259 GB (90%)
Free Space 26.3 GB (10%)

Can you free up some space on the C:\  ?

But Process Explorer looks bad so it's probably the cause of your slowness:

Interrupts 6.14 0 K 0 K n/a Hardware Interrupts and DPCs

This should be under 1.5.  Usually it means that there is a bad driver but on a laptop a bad battery can also have this effect. Shut it down and remove the battery then restart it and run Process Explorer again.

Hi,

I'll clean up some space on the C drive definitely, and turn off that pending process.

However, the thing is there is no battery in my laptop - it didn't work anymore, so while I receive a new one, I'm plugged in.

Is there any way to fix/update the driver?

If you go into Safe Mode menu and choose Low Resolution Display that should kill off most of the video driver.  See if interrupts goes down.  If it does try updating the video driver.  You can also Search for msconfig and hit Enter.  Then go to Services tab and click on the box to hide Microsoft Services then uncheck

everything that remains.  Go to Startup tab and uncheck everything.  OK and
reboot.   Check Interrupts.  Any change.  If it went down then go back into msconfig and recheck about half of the items you unchecked and try again.  Try to isolate the problem to a few entries then we will know what to upgrade.

Also usually your PC maker's website will have new version of drivers.  I would do them one at a time so you know if something makes it worse.
