Download TFC by OldTimer http://oldtimer.geekstogo.com/TFC.exe to your desktop.

right-click on the file and choose Run As Administrator

TFC will close all programs when run, so make sure you have saved all your work before you begin.

* Click the Start button to begin the cleaning process.
* Depending on how often you clean temp files, execution time should be anywhere from a few seconds to a minute or two.
* Please let TFC run uninterrupted until it is finished.

Once TFC is finished it should restart your computer. If it does not, please manually restart the computer yourself to ensure a complete cleaning.

  • Go Here to download HijackThis program
  • Save HijackThis to your desktop.
  • Right Click on Hijackthis and select "Run as Admin"
  • Click on "Do A system scan and save a logfile" (if you do not see "Do A system scan and save a logfile" then click on main menu)
  • copy and paste hijackthis report into the topic

Open hijackthis--> Right click on the Hijackthis icon on the desktop and "Run as administrator"

This time do a system scan only, when the scan completes place a check mark in the following entries:

These are all start up entries and not necessary they can be run directly from the program, unless you think you need them to start every time you reboot, fixing these will result in faster reboot and free up memory and cpu use.

Note If you use a remote control for anything skip checking this 04 entry:

Your System Idle process has gone from 21.03cpu to 74.06cpu that's a good sign. Right now all I see is Avast using quite a bit 9.04.cpu

Is that the Free version of avast and how long has that been installed? We could uninstall it and see what results are obtained in doing so. We would want to install a Temporary Anti Virus Like Microsoft Security Essentials and run the computer with that for a day or so.

Yes it's the free version of avast. I installed it in April.

Did the computer work after that topic was closed, and then start acting up again with the high cpu usage ?

What is the make an model # ? Is this it--> Aspire 5517 ?

As it stands now according to the last Process Hacker log report,

Your interrupts and DPCs reading looks a bit high, possible causes, out of date chipset drivers or BIOS and a flaky HDD or network device.
