Hi

I have been using Office XP running on Windows XP for a long time without problems. Suddenly the Office programs (e.g. Word) will not start - come up with a message (I am using the Danish version) something like 'Error occured, closing the program - do you want to send an error report?' - then the program closes.

It happened the same day (9 maj 2016) on TWO  XP PC's on the same network. I don't think we have accessed any suspicious web sites or mails.

I tried cleaning the PC using Microsoft's anti-malware tool (reported 4 infected files) and then reinstalling Office - but the same happens.

I have been running Norton AV all the time.

Perhaps a virus has got in and done some damage to the registry...

Any ideas appreciated!

Roger

If it's just Word that won't work it could be a bad doc has changed the normal.dot template.

If it's all of Office then I would look for a recent update and try to back it out.
