Workplace Ethernet Connection Problem

Hello everyone,

I don't know if it's the right category. If not, I am sorry in advance!
I am working at a call center and the Internet connection here is super fast. Yesterday I brought my laptop for the night shift and connected one of the ethernet cables coming from the ground to my laptop. However, I could not connect to the Internet. In the past, I used to use the same laptop at a different call center.
I think the workplace computers have some kind of privilege, or unknown computers are automatically blocked when connected.
Is there any way to bypass this by using a program on my laptop? Or any other way?

Thank you in advance. :)
Berk

Is there any way to obtain that IP address using MS-DOS on the connected workplace computer?

Hello Berkologie,

Yes sometime you can't, because you have some static ip address in your office network  which is different from home network which is maintained by your system administrator, you need to contact them if you need internet connection for your laptop.

The above is the only guidance that Dashing star should have offered as anything further breaches the GTG Terms of Use;

We here at Geeks To Go cannot help you get around any sort of administrative restrictions imposed on a School, Work, or any other network not owned and operated by yourself.
These restrictions can include (but are not limited to):

  • Website Blocking policies
  • Software Installation policies
  • Email retention policies
  • Software Configuration policies
  • Network/Internet usage policies
  • Network Configuration policies
  • Forum or Chat Room Bans
  • Game Server Bans
  • Any other actions that are deemed "unauthorized" by the owners/administrators of the network in question

Any actions by members of the Geeks To Go site that would be offered to help in this manner would directly violate the ToS of this site.

If you have any issues with this policy please PM a Moderator or Admin.
