In the last two days, Windows 10 has installed the same update several times (see attachment showing update KB3152599 on 12th and 13th May).  Can anyone shed some light as to why this is happening and how it can be stopped?  Thanks.

Thanks for your reply.  I have read the article you suggested and followed the instructions to the letter.

Part of the article stated:

"To uninstall an unwanted Windows Update:

  1. Type “View Installed Updates” in the Search box and then click on View Installed Updates – Control Panel from the Search results.
  2. To uninstall the unwanted update, select it from the list and then click Uninstall."

The weird thing, however, is that update KB3152599 it is NOT LISTED as an update that can be uninstalled. This is despite the fact that it has installed several times.  Baffling!    I ran WUSHOWHIDE and again it is not listed as an update that I can hide.  I am completely at a loss to know how to stop this.  Can you provide further advice?  Thanks.

You are most likely already aware that this particular update has caused problems for many folk but fwiw some examples here

You may not even need KB3152599 but try the Windows Update Troubleshooter

NB: You can see in my attachment that KB3152599 installed ok for me, possibly because I participate in the insider preview program but cannot say for sure.

You are welcome btw  :)

Thanks for the background information regarding this update.  It is comforting to know that I'm not on my own with this problem.  At least now I don't feel that I'm being singled out for special treatment :yes:   I will try the Windows Update Troubleshooter and report back on the outcome.

Download then run the All in One Repair from here, disregard the malware guidance but follow the other steps to the letter and in particular ensuring that you first create a new restore point and perform a proper Windows clean boot before running the repair, details for the clean boot here.

Let us know what build version of Windows 10 you have;

Click on the Start tab then select Settings.

Go to System > About and  then scroll down, you will see the version and build numbers + your other computer info such as CPU and RAM etc..

System details are:  Windows 10 Home 64 bit Edition  Build 10586.318 Version 1511 running on a Dell Inspiron 5559 with 8Gb Ram and Intel I7-6500U CPU @2.50GHz

I ran the All in One Repair and so far so good.  Note that the update is no longer being detected :yeah:

I will keep an eye on the system for a couple of days to see if the situation changes.  If not, I will do a final post.

In the meantime, thanks for all your assistance.  It is much appreciated.
