Hi there, Forgive me I'm a newby with a problem and I have difficulties with the language :)

We have an iMac with a macbook pro and a fairly new Brother printer set up to operate wirelessly. A few weeks ago we decided to upgraded the system to El Capitan (because we now have an ipad and phone and wanted them all to sync and to use the cloud).

All was well at first but now the Mac seems to have died as when switched on it gets about two thirds of the way into booting up and then just switches off. Tried the safe boot etc but still nothing so am advised that it's probably the hard disk. That problem pending. But in the meantime, the printer has stopped responding to the laptop wireless or wired!!! It just shows as offline.

Neither of us is very technically oriented - however OH has been trying to get it to work but so far no joy - does anyone have any ideas or advice as to what might have happened and how we can fix it so that we can at least print from the macbook whilst we decide what to do with the desktop?

Thanks in advance
