Hello,

I am trying to uninstall Bit Defender (since it caused my system to lock up big time) but I'm unable to uninstall.

Is there any way to get around the error:

"There is a problem with your windows installer package. A problem required for this install to complete could not be run."

I have tried EVERYTHING I can think of and can't uninstall this software.

I've gone to add/remove programs and that doesn't work.

The applicable folder/files (in 'program files' folder) are read-only so I unchecked "read-only" but still they won't delete.

I won't bother posting a HJT log in the Malware forum since my log is clean.

Any help most appreciated.

Thank you,

JDM

Delete the folders in safe mode, then delete the bitfender registry keys. You can remove the program from add/remove programs with HJT.
