Hi Guys,

I've been having this issue for quite sometime now,

I already checked a couple of instructions and fix or solutions on the net,

but everything hasn't helped my issues yet.

Although it doesnt affect my system (i think), it just bothers me that the network/wifi icon shows rex X mark indicating it's not connected to any networks while on actual it has internet access on it.

Previously, i just ignored it, and said, what the [bleep], as long as my system's working fine, im good.

But since recently i joined your blog, i think might as well ask a couple of experts for help.

Any response on my issues would be greatly appreciated..

Thanks and Regards,

Lance.

Let's gather some data on your setup:

Please download MiniToolBox, save it to your desktop and run it.

Checkmark the following checkboxes:
  • Flush DNS
  • Report IE Proxy Settings
  • Reset IE Proxy Settings
  • Report FF Proxy Settings
  • Reset FF Proxy Settings
  • List content of Hosts
  • List IP configuration
  • List Winsock Entries
  • List last 10 Event Viewer Errors
  • List Installed Programs
  • List Devices
  • List Users, Partitions and Memory size.
  • List Minidump Files
  • Click Go and post the result (Result.txt). A copy of Result.txt will be saved in the same directory the tool is run.

Note: When using "Reset FF Proxy Settings" option Firefox should be closed.

Get the free version of Speccy:

http://www.filehippo...download_speccy (Look in the upper right for the Download
Latest Version button  - Do NOT press the large Start Download button on the upper left!)
Download, Save and Install it.  Run Speccy.  When it finishes (the little icon in the bottom left will stop moving),
File, Save as Text File,  (to your desktop) note the name it gives. OK.  Open the file in notepad and delete the line that gives the serial number of your Operating System.
(It will be near the top about 10 lines down.) Save the file.  Attach the file to your next post.  (More Reply Options, Choose File, Open, Attach This File)

    **** End of log ****

Unfortunately, when i try to click the download link (Download Latest Version 4.87MB) for Speecy, all i got was a blank empty page with no download content whatsoever.

So i was hoping you could give me a different link for that.

Again, thanks for your quick response and i appreciate everything,

    Regards,

    Lance

The speccy link works for me so I'm not sure what's happening.

You have a lot of different VPN programs installed.  I would uninstall all of them and see if that helps any.

    Betternet

    CyberGhost 5

    Hotspot Shield 5.20.22

    OpenVPN 2.3.6-I001

    TAP-Windows 9.9.2

Your Intel® WiFi Link 1000 BGN Wireless is having problems so I would also try updating the driver for it.  Check your PC maker's website or you can sometimes get on through Control Panel, Windows Update, Check for Updates then look in the Optional list.  If all else fails then check on the intel.com website  https://downloadcent...-?product=72252

Probably not part of your problem but you have several drivers missing:

Right click on Computer and select Manage and then Device Manager then View, Show Hidden Drivers.  Now look in the right pane for yellow flagged devices.  Right click on one and select properties then click on the Details tab.  Change Property to Hardware IDs.  Click on the top one then right click and copy.  Paste that into a reply.  Repeat for all yellow flagged devices.

I already download Speecy, installed and run it, then attached the txt file(SUPERLANCE-PC.txt) with this reply.

I also uninstalled Betternet, Cyberghost, OpenVPN, TapVPn, and i don't know why the HotspotShield is still registered/showing on my PC while i already uninstalled it few days ago. And it's never been appearing on the installed Programs on my Control Panel.

    Anyways, for the Missing Drivers:

    flagged item or driver/s:

    NUSB3\ROOT_HUB30&VID_1033&PID_0194&REV_0004&SID_9081104D

    root\cbfs_storlib_bus3

I also followed this instruction of yours:

"...Intel® WiFi Link 1000 BGN Wireless is having problems so I would also try updating the driver for it.  Check your PC maker's website or you can sometimes get on through Control Panel, Windows Update, Check for Updates then look in the Optional list.  If all else fails then check on the intel.com website  https://downloadcent...-?product=72252"

    then installed the
    Intel® PROSet/Wireless Software and Drivers for Windows 7* 64bit

but when i tried to installed it, the process was blocked.

    Intel.jpg

Pardon me for a lot of probs,. and thanks for your patience...

The hotspot shield is hidden in your uninstall list:

Hotspot Shield 5.20.22 Embedded (HKLM-x32\...\{AF599C42-A2E5-4251-B7EE-4925A26807CB}) (Version: 5.20.22.9384 - Buildbot) Hidden

I think it was probably installed by some other program.  See if AdwCleaner will get it:

Download : ADWCleaner to your desktop.  Make sure you get the correct Download button.  Sometimes the ads on BleepingComputer will mimic the real Download button which should say: Download Now @BleepingComputer

NOTE: If using Internet Explorer and you get an alert that stops the program downloading, click on the warning and allow the download to complete.

Close  all programs, pause your anti-virus and run AdwCleaner (Vista or Win 7 => right click and Run As Administrator).

    scan-results.jpg

Click on Scan  and follow the prompts. Let it run unhindered. When done, click on the Clean button, and follow the prompts. Allow the system to reboot. You will then be presented with the report. Copy & Paste this report on your next reply.

The report will be saved in the C:\AdwCleaner folder.

    The flagged driver

    NUSB3\ROOT_HUB30&VID_1033&PID_0194&REV_0004&SID_9081104D

is Renesas USB3.0 Host Controller Driver

I don't know the model of your notebook.  Appears to be a Sony.  It's best to get the preferred driver from their support website for your particular model but you can try:

    http://www.sony-mea....download/495028

The "blocked" install is just telling you that you first need to uninstall the old version first:

    Intel® PROSet/Wireless WiFi Software (HKLM\...\{D16A2127-B927-4379-B153-3DEC091E4EEB}) (Version: 13.02.1000 - Intel Corporation)

Best to reboot after the uninstall before trying to install the new version.  You might want to see if you can find a copy of the old version to download first just in case the new version doesn't work for some reason as uninstalling will leave you without WiFi.

The icon you are looking at is for the wired Ethernet.  The one for the wireless looks like this:

Click on the up arrow to the left of the little icons.  Click on Customize.

Scroll down to the one that looks like the one in my picture and change it to Show Icon and Notification.

This is all what's showing in mine.

Btw, i'm currently connected to a Wifi and not on a Lan cable network.

If you right click on the icon does it let you go to Network & Sharing Center?  If so can you take a screen shot of the window?

Delays are no problem.  I don't keep track.

Can you go into Device Manager, View, Show Hidden Devices then click on the arrow in front of Network Adapters and take a screen shot of the devices under Network Adapters?
