I am deployed currently and trying to figure out a way to use my surface as a screen for my desktop, (since my screen crapped out on me and I don't want to spend the money on a TV, I already have the surface so please don't recommend I just get an actual display). So I have looked around for answers what I am getting so far is that it is only possible to splash the screen via WIFI as a secondary monitor. But, I can't get much information for it to be used as the only monitor. So here are my questions in regard to my problem, first: is it possible to convert the mini displayport into an input without opening up the surface (ie an adapter of sorts)? Second: if I got a USB bridging cable, would I be able to do more than just transfer files an actually set up the surface as a display? third, is there an adapter for the USB port I could use to accomplish this? or are there any other suggestions? or am I S**t out of luck?

How can I use my surface pro as an external dispaly?
